IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING COMMUNICATION
Please add us to your ‘contacts’ list on your email account so our email is not blocked. It is ultimately the client’s responsibility to assure possible correspondence by following this procedure.
If you do not get your confirmation within 36 hours, please write a quick, friendly email to let us know (and please check your spam box).
Upon payment of tickets or partial deposit, tour participants indicate full acceptance of the below terms and conditions.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
We know you value flexibility and we want you to have peace of mind when booking with us. We understand that due to recent travel restrictions and limitations, you might have to change your plans, and we’re here to help.
In the case that you are unable to attend the scheduled activity, your deposit will be refunded or partially refunded according to the following fee schedule:
YOUR DEPOSIT IS FULLY REFUNDABLE UP TO 10 DAYS BEFORE YOUR TOUR DATE.
0-9 DAYS BEFORE YOUR TOUR DATE, 0% IS REFUNDABLE.
NO-SHOW: 0% IS REFUNDABLE.
In cases of extenuating circumstances, Philema Food Tours (also referred to below as “PFT”) requires cancellation notification no less than 24 hours before the activity start time, accepted by email or text message. As we cannot always answer our phone (and time zone differences limit hours of the day that we are available to our clients living outside of Greece), email is the best way to assure we receive your cancellation. Upon receiving your cancellation notice, PFT will send a reply verifying that we have received said notice.
Your refund, when applicable, will be made to your credit card in due time. When possible, we will refund reasonable cancellations with a 10% Cancellation Fee. If you choose not to cancel but to postpone your tour and book another date, your deposit is valid for the new booking and you will not be charged the Cancellation Fee.
PFT reserves the right to cancel an entire activity or suggest a last-minute alternative in the case some of our associates are unable to host visits. In the case of full cancellation on our behalf, your deposit is fully refundable.
IF PHILEMA FOOD TOURS MUST CANCEL A TOUR
In case of circumstances beyond our control, PFT reserves the right to cancel or change any tours without any penalty. In such case, the client will be fully reimbursed for the cost of the services paid. Whenever possible, PFT will inform you in advance should any changes be necessary.
PFT does not assume responsibility for additional expenses that client(s) may incur due to a cancelled tour (such as flight or train reservations, hotels, museum reservations, and other incidentals.

To serve you most efficiently, credit card transactions and order fulfillment may be handled by a third party processing agent, bank or distribution institution. All transactions are processed through a highly secure and encrypted system. While in most cases transactions are completed without difficulty, there is no such thing as “perfect security” on the Internet or offline. The Company and the Site cannot take responsibility for the success or security of transactions undertaken or processed by third parties.
On occasion, a product or service may not be available at the time or the price as it appears or is promoted. In such event, or in the event a product is listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information due to typographical error, technology error, error in the date or length of publication, or error in pricing or product information received from our advertisers or suppliers, you agree that PHILEMA FOOD TOURS, its website and its booking engine are not responsible for such errors or discrepancies.
OUR RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities and Tour Conditions for PFT, also referred to as “the Operator”. Any person reserving or purchasing any PFT activity accepts the condition that the Operator reserves to itself the exclusive right to change or cancel itineraries and other tour components if necessary, when necessary. Should this happen, PFT will make every effort to offer alternate dates, services and/or programs. Times listed on itineraries are as accurate as possible but subject to change due to traffic, weather, mechanical and any other conditions beyond the Operator’s control that prevent PFT from operating as scheduled. PFT expressly disclaims any liability for any damages that may be incurred for any changes, cancellations, or delays in any itinerary.
Fluctuations of currency exchange rates can affect our listed prices. These rates may be changed when necessary without advance notice prior to deposit. For cancellation charges, fees, and refunds, please see our CANCELLATION / REFUND POLICY.
OUR LIABILITY
PFT provides a service to travelers. Our service is a liaison between said travelers and local merchants, restaurants and other venues.
PFT, therefore, shall not be responsible for breach of contract or any intentional or careless actions or omissions on part of such suppliers, which result in any loss, damage, delay, or injury to you or your travel companions or group members.
Unless the term “guaranteed” is specifically stated in writing on your ticket, invoice, or reservation itinerary, PHILEMA does not guarantee any of such suppliers’ scheduling, behavior or handling of personal effects.
PFT shall not be responsible for any injuries, damages, or losses caused to any client in connection with terrorist activities, social, or labor unrest, mechanical or construction failures or difficulties, diseases, local laws, climatic conditions, criminal acts or abnormal conditions or developments, or any other actions, omissions, or conditions outside the control of PHILEMA.
PHILEMA shall not be responsible for injuries, damages or losses related to clients’ lack of attention, absent-mindedness or endangering behavior.
THE TRAVELER'S RESPONSIBILITY
DAMAGES & PERSONAL BEHAVIOR OF GUESTS
Travelers are responsible for themselves and are expected not to break or damage anything belonging to the venues visited on the tour. Anything broken by a guest due to negligence will require payment or replacement by said guest.
Guests are expected to respect the places they visit, as well as their surroundings and Philema’s vehicles by trying their best not to pollute the environment and not to leave personal trash behind.
ANY GUEST WHO BEHAVES IN A DISRUPTIVE MANOR (BOTHERING GUIDE AND/OR OTHER PARTICIPANTS) WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Any guest with food allergies or intolerances is responsible for communicating this information in advance to PFT so we can best prepare your tastings. PFT takes every precaution to order said tastings through our venues. However, PFT cannot be held liable for mistakes or omissions made by the venues we visit for tastings.
IN CASE OF ALLERGIES, INTOLERANCES OR SPECIAL DIETS, PLEASE INFORM US UPON BOOKING OR BY FOLLOW-UP EMAIL.
Any guest with mortal food allergies is asked to carry proper medication with them. By reserving tickets with PFT, the guest agrees to carry proper medication at all times while in the company of PFT. By reserving tickets, guest agrees that PFT cannot be held liable for discrepancies made by the venues we visit for tastings.
TREAT OTHERS AS YOU’D LIKE TO BE TREATED. This includes respect for your guide, other guests on the tour, volunteers, employees and shop owners - including but not limited to: arriving punctually and allowing the guide to keep the tour at a comfortable pace for the entire group by participating and listening as a group member.
The travelers assume complete and full responsibility for themselves during the length of the proposed tour. Guests agree to arrival on time (no later than 10 minutes delay is possible before beginning the tour), in good psycho-physical condition (not drunk), and to show respect for the guide and other guests, as well as for the venues we visit.
We are in Greece:
Though on a small island, sometimes you will find the distances to be surprisingly long. Road network infrastructure can also be a reason for delays and for program modification decisions made on the spot and always aiming to clients’ satisfaction. Philema Food Tours reserves the right to alter the booked route in case of problems beyond our control.
Occasionally things may vary, due to the fact that most of our venues are small businesses operated by Naxians who work hard but occasionally need time off. Or sometimes equipment breaks or electricity goes out, or pipes explode. “Greek hospitality” sometimes comes with a myriad of glitches!
Sometimes routes will be affected by shop owners/occasional technical problems. In such cases we will do our absolute best to present something of equal or higher value and deliciousness!
YOUTH PRICES
Though children are welcome to join the group it is not free of charge. Our guides work extra to make it entertaining when children participate.
Babies: We recommend having a few of their favorite things (any toys and/or snacks they might need during the hours you’ll be touring around Naxos. Our only policy regarding small children is that parents are prepared and considerate of any other guests who might be taking the tour as well. (Quite honestly, we’ve always had great kids with great parents join us!). Children under 12 months join free.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
PHILEMA FOOD TOURS strongly recommends that you purchase travel insurance. Consult your travel agent or other travel broker for such insurance. PFT does not offer, sell, nor resell travel insurance at this time.
UNSATISFIED WITH YOUR EXPERIENCE?
Every once in a while we receive suggestions from past guests. Most are only minor complaints (which we find reasonable and a valuable resource for improving our itineraries and better serving our guests!).
We do not want anyone who joins us to leave unsatisfied, we welcome your comments and suggestions and will make fair compensation if you are unsatisfied and alert us in person, by phone or by email. We strive to please our guests so please contact us directly before making any comments on websites!
Final Notes:
- The staff of Philema Food Tours is not authorized to make any hotel arrangements or ground/air transportation reservations.
- All tours are available in English. Tours in French and Italian are available upon request and availability.
- All tours, activities and experiences are carried out with the presence of a local escort. Our guides are not official certified by the Ministry of Tourism, however, they are deeply knowledgeable about the island of Naxos, its food scene, its history and folklore aspects and are highly capable of answering most questions. In case you wish your tour to be escorted by a professional, certified guide, please contact us and we will try our best to find one available and change the tour price accordingly.
